HP 255 G4

The HP 255 G4 is an entry-level notebook designed for everyday computing. It comes with AMD Beema (E1-6015), AMD Carrizo-L (A6-6310, A8-7410), or Intel Braswell (Celeron N3050) processor inside. AMD E1-6015 is a dual-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz without Turbo technology. Both A-series processors, A6-6310 and A8-7410, support Turbo Core technology up to 2.4 GHz and 2.5 GHz respectively. The Celeron processor, which is very power efficient, has a base frequency of 1.6 GHz and Intel Burst up to 2.16 GHz. Only the AMD E1 has 1 MB cache, while the other processors have 2 MB cache. The successor of 255 G3 features a 15.6-inch SVA anti-glare flat LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. There are two SODIMM slots inside. Totally, you can have up to 8 GB of system memory. The storage device inside is an HDD, with capacity range from 500 GB up to 1 TB.

A full-sized textured island-style keyboard gives you comfortable typing experience. Under the keyboard you’ll find a touchpad with multi-touch gestures support. HP 255 G4 has a pair of speakers with DTS Sound+ technology. On the right side, there’s a DVD+/-RW SuperMulti double-layer which can be used for reading or burning CD/DVD. The affordable notebook provides all standard I/O ports. Both the VGA port and HDMI v1.4 port supports up to 1920 x 1200 pixels output at 60 Hz. Other ports include a USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, an RJ-45 LAN port, a headphone/line-out jack, a microphone/line-in jack, and an AC power connector.

For connectivity, it comes with Realtek Ethernet 10/100Mbps NIC for wired networking and 802.11b/g/n WLAN for wireless networking, with optional Bluetooth 4.0. Miracast feature, which is used to project screen to external wireless display, is also supported only with Windows 8.1. Above the display, there’s a webcam with VGA or HD resolution. The battery inside is a Lithium-ion battery, either 3-cell 31 WHr or 4-cell 41 WHr. It’s good enough for a budget notebook to have a thickness of 2.43 cm (0.95-inch). It weighs starting at 2.1 kg.
