Asus VivoBook 14 X411UA

As one of VivoBook 14 model, Asus X411UA is a lightweight mid-size laptop with decent performance for everyday computing. It’s powered by an Intel ultra-low voltage processor, either Core i3-7100U, Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U. This laptop doesn’t have discrete-class GPU, so it depends on the integrated graphics card. Models with the 7th gen i3 have Intel HD Graphics 620, while models with 8th gen i5 or i7 have Intel UHD Graphics 620.

This Asus laptop supports dual-storage system with a slot for an HDD (up to 1 TB) and a slot for M.2 SSD (up to 512 GB). It means you can get spacious storage with an HDD as well as speedy and durable storage with an SSD. The Asus X411UA uses DDR4 system memory with maximum capacity of 16 GB – that’s normal for a mid-range laptop.

A 14.0-inch anti-glare display gives you comfortable view. However 45% NTSC color gamut is not impressive. The display is available in two versions, standard HD display (1366 x 768 pixels) and Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) with 178˚ wide-viewing angle. With Asus Splendid technology, you can easily adjust the display by selecting one of four modes: Normal, Eye Card, Vivid and the customizable Manual mode. The manufacturer also includes Tru2Life Video technology, which increases sharpness and contrast of video.

There are four USB ports consisting of a USB Type C port, a USB 3.0 Type A port, and two USB 2.0 ports. Other ports include a headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack, an HDMI output port and a power adapter plug. The keyboard has chiclet keys and like other 14-inch laptops, it doesn’t have numeric keypad. Optical drive is omitted in order to reduce weight.

As for audio, the VivoBook X411UA comes with a pair of 2W stereo speakers. With SonicMaster technology, it delivers immersive sound. You can easily adjust audio output mode with Audio Wizard software. The wireless adapter is either 802.11ac (2×2) or 802.11b/g/n, while the Bluetooth version is 4.2. Above the display, there is a webcam with maximum resolution of VGA.

A 3-cell 42 Whr battery inside has SuperBattery technology, which improves the battery life. Dimensions of this laptop are 326.4 x 225.5 x 20.4 mm and it weighs 1.35 kg. If you’re looking for a mid-size laptop with decent performance, long battery life. and light body, you can consider this product. However, with the lack of discrete-class GPU, it’s not good for running graphics demanding apps. Asus also have similar laptops with GeForce MX150 or GeForce 940MX in case you need better graphics performance.
